A salute to you, my followers. If have been with me over the past few weeks, you know my story and know that just last week, I began to trifle with the possibilities of the Internet, and happened to stumble upon a electronic journal similar to mine. Well, that particular read rather piqued my interest. If this one read was such a thrilling discovery, imagine the revelations I may happen upon by taking on the infinite blogs that exist in this cyber plane. And so, I did just this. In my leisure time between my physical explorations of this planet, I would find myself a point of internet access and continue my virtual journeys as well.
I came across a peculiar read the other day. It wasn’t rather emotional or startling; but it did make me think about the nature of beings and their interactions with one another. The post I am referring to is called “The Mask”. While the author gave no distinguishing characteristics about themselves, I was entranced with the tale they spun. The post depicted the experience of a collegiate student in the land known as “China”. According to this author, there appears to be some sort of rampant disease present in the area, and to avoid it the locals have began to purchase medical masks in hopes of restricting their interactions with contaminated air. The collegiate student I referred to attempted to purchase a mask for herself, but was told that an individual had bought all the masks from the store and was selling them himself for astronomically larger prices. However, his selfishness was met with anger from the masses, as a large group of people soon used force and caused him to spill his collection of masks, ultimately leaving them to the public for free.
Now at first when I read this account, I simply smirked. If I was in the place of that girl, faced with this unreasonable arrogant salesman, I would have simply ripped his he-. I apologize. There is no need for such brutish illustrations. Let’s just say, I would have acquired my mask rather quickly, by use of force or without. Upon mulling it over however, I began to dig a little deeper into this small interaction. I put myself in the mind of the salesman. While I will admit he was taking advantage of a rather unethical situation, was he not simply doing what was best for himself through a business perspective? Was he not displaying an avid mind and making a smart decision to help himself and those reliant on him? Or was he wrong for dealing with such practices during a time of dire need? All of these questions swirled in my mind, and truth be told reader, I do not know where I stand on the matter. Such cut-throat nature has led to the success of many, both on my home planet and here, it seems. But while some stand in admiration of it, others who feel the repercussions of it scowl. This new habit I have grew into, of thinking more and reading into situations. I think I will do it more often. I feel as if its made me more level-headed, more insightful. I think this mentality will go ways to helping my home.
